From Our Family Kitchen to Yours

Back in 1891, Dr. August Oetker founded our family business by opening his pharmacy in Bielefeld, Germany. His first big baking breakthrough? A ready-to-use baking powder formula that gave even inexperienced bakers the confidence to create reliably perfect cakes every time. More innovations quickly followed, including vanilla sugar, wheat starch, flavourings, and dessert mixes.

Our Family of Trusted Quality Brands

Growing into more than 40 countries worldwide, Dr. Oetker first came to South Africa in 2010 when we introduced our world-famous Dr. Oetker Ristorante thin-crust frozen pizza to every home in the country. 

Soon after, we added South Africa's favourite frozen pizza, Ital Pizza, to our offering, which already included the Nice ‘n Easy frozen meal range and Green Valley frozen vegetables. 

The Cake People from Château Gâteaux joined the Dr. Oetker family of brands in 2017, adding exceptional quality, freshly-frozen cakes and desserts to our stable. 

Our food service arm was rebranded as Dr. Oetker Professional in 2021 and continues our proud tradition of supporting food establishments with an assortment of pizzas, meals, cakes, and desserts to help save time and money for their kitchens. 

Family-owned to this day, our dedication to quality and innovation continues to bring people and families together to enjoy deliciously feel-good food moments – and a little 'taste of home'.
